Our Mission

Bowfire Rise is a business created to foster artists, writers, and musicians who want their lives and their art to convey the true heart of the Father and bring glory to the King of Kings. We seek to provide a pathway to mentorship and other opportunities and encouragement that help creatives to discover their own unique gifts and calling, develop stewardship of those gifts to bring positive transformation to individuals and our culture as a whole, build community, and reflect the character of the Creator.

What is Bowfire?

Fire being started using the bow drill method.

The ancient Inuits in North America skillfully ignited fires in the wilderness using natural resources. You can see a basic version of that here (have the YouTube hyperlink) Using a hunting bow, a length of rope and a stable flat piece of wood, they allowed friction between the bow rope and a rope wrapped around the upright stick to slowly create a spark. By skillfully carving each piece of the bow drill, positioning the taut ropes to slide against each other, patiently using the sawing motion to created friction, and preparing the tinder in a specific way, the spark could be carefully transferred to kindling wood, and a fire would ignite.

One morning in early June, 2022, God brought this word “bowfire” into my consciousness, a word for which I had no background knowledge. I had been seeking Him for answers to be effective in prayer with others for this nation and the world.

I dove into research about the meaning and history of bowfire. Suddenly I had an “aha” moment when I realized that just as the Inuits patiently and skillfully nurtured the bowfire in the wilderness, He wanted me to believe the lesson of the bowfire – patient intercession that learns how to harness the friction of spiritual warfare and follow His instructions would literally ignite the fires of revival in this country not seen since the early 1900s.

I conveyed the principle of the bowfire to an intercession group that meets in our home, and by faith, amazing encounters and revelation have sparked in our hearts. As we nurture these sparks with faithful, relentless prayer—encounters, Holy Spirit revelation, signs and wonders—we will be able to transfer those sparks to the tinder of the hearts of people ready to receive the holy fire!

​STATEMENT OF FAITH

Bowfire Rise was birthed from a vision given by the Holy Spirit and confirmed by Scripture. Our Statement of Faith is meant to be living and active, supporting our mission of launching artists, musicians, writers, and other creatives into a purposeful, surrendered relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord.

Specifically, we seek to provide foundational training, a “base camp” for discovering individual anointings, gifts, and skills and assisting creatives in taking the next steps in training their spirits and gifts to be channeled by God for the Kingdom of God, encouraging them to become a vital, contributing part of the Body of Christ locally and globally to inspire love and service to the King of Kings.

  1. GOD -The God of the Universe has manifested HIs presence and redeeming love and character to earth in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son. (Hebrews 1:1-4; Luke 3:4-6; Luke 1:68-69)
  2. JESUS CHRIST – Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh, Emmanuel, sent to earth by a loving Heavenly Father in fulfillment of prophecies to give His life as the Lamb of God’s sacrifice for our sins to reconcile us back to the Father. (John 1:1-8; Hebrews 1:3; Colossians 1:13-20; John 10:17-19; Romans 5:11; 2 Corinthians 5:18)
  3. WORD OF GOD -The Word of God is inspired, God-breathed, and authoritative in all generations, meant to become the living bread of our lives, leading us into all righteousness. (Ephesians 4:11; Romans 15:4; Psalm 119:9-11,89; John 7:16). All the promises of God in Scripture are applicable and true for believers in every age and culture, which we appropriate and apply to our lives through the leading of the Holy Spirit and confirmation of other faithful believers. (2 Timothy 3:16, Jude 24)
  4. HOLY SPIRIT – The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, manifests the presence of God in our lives through His dwelling us at salvation and, through the baptism of the Spirit and fire, empowers us through unfolding revelation of the Scriptures. (Acts 1:17-21; Acts 2:1-4; Romans 8: 1-11; I Corinthians 13: Galatians 5 all)
  5. ISRAEL – Israel is God’s chosen nation and people, with a purpose throughout history to reflect the great plan and purpose of God, the elder brother to believers of every other nation and tribe. God will bless those who bless Israel, and we honor His beloved. (Matthew 2:6, 10:6; Romans 11 all)
  6. BODY OF CHRIST – The Body of Christ, as pictured in I Corinthians 12-15 and John 17, must become and abide as One in a relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to reveal His love to the earth, that the world may believe.  Believers are called to a wholehearted surrender to the Lordship of Christ over their lives to mature in faith, love, purity, and service, learning the voice of the Lord and His ways. (Jude 24; Ephesians 5:24) There is no partiality with God; every believer is to be cherished and honored for his or her unique expression of worship and service. (Proverbs 24;23; Acts 10:34; James 2:9). The five-fold ministry of apostle, prophet, pastor, evangelist, and teacher is given to the Body of Christ to serve, equip and mature us into the Bride of Christ. (Ephesians 4, I Corinthians 12; I Timothy 1)
  7. INTERCESSION – Learning the principles and promises of Holy Spirit-led, faithful intercession both individually and corporately provides the fuel and victory for our walk with God and our fulfillment of the Great Commission on earth. Prayer enables the church to bring every spiritual stronghold into submission to the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 6: 10-20; Matthew 28:18-20; James 5:16; Philippians 4:6; Romans 12:12; Colossians 1:9-12)

What is the Bowfire Vision?

The Lord again spoke to me using the words, “Bowfire Rise.” Again, I was scratching my head. “What are you speaking, Lord?” He reminded me of something that has been a passion of mine since the 1990s: helping young artists, musicians and writers to get launched and find how their expression will both feed into a larger community and sustain them financially. Slowly I realized that the Lord wanted me to create a business that would both provide training, mentoring, community, encouragement, and a way to showcase items of art, music and writing. It would use the timeless power of prophetic intercession and faith to help artists find a way to bring reform and light to the world.

Many times the diverse expressions God gives to people do not find a nurturing atmosphere or community to develop artists as stewards in the realm of arts and entertainment. Many fall prey to influences and demands of a compromised and corrupt culture just so they can make a living as an artist. Even in the world of ministry and missions, it is time for a reformation and new pathways for artists that reflect the true character and the power of the Kingdom of God.

You have gifts as an artist given to you by God, and He wants you to discover who you are in Him FIRST. You have an amazing potential under the mantle of HIs anointing to discover a unique destiny to use your gifts to influence individuals and culture in a way no one else can!

He is the source of all creativity: “For by Him are all things created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions or rulers or authorities, all things were created through Him and for Him” -Colossians 1:16. Bowfire Rise is here as a catalyst of faith to help you first become aligned with the purposes of God for your life as a child of God and as an artist, and then ignited with His presence and power to accomplish your vision!

Chere Berman is a retired teacher of 33 years, teaching every grade level and 17 years at the university level in English, and high school classes in Journalism, Drama, and Art. Author of Amber String of Beads and Chords, Sounds of a Journey, Chere is driven to bring reformation to the “mountain” of Arts and Entertainment, and to artists of all ages the joy of creativity unleashed by the Father.
